Smoking harms nearly every organ in your body and negatively impacts your overall health and well-being. It is known to cause heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, osteoporosis, cancer, and death. Becoming completely tobacco-free, including smoking, vaping or other tobacco use, is the best thing you can do for your health.

125th Anniversary Celebration of Old Gaol becoming a museum

Mar. 14, 2025 8:00 a.m.

Old York Gaol.

This National Historic Landmark sits atop York’s Gaol Hill, where colonial Maine’s first prison was constructed in 1656. The site was occupied continuously until 1860—first by Province of Maine’s correctional facility, and then by York County’s. Originally comprised of free-standing structures, the existing building reflects two centuries of construction campaigns.

York Ready for Climate Action

Jun. 06, 2025 8:00 a.m.

Who We Are

YRCA was formed in May of 2018 by a group of York citizens, frustrated by lack of progress on climate, under the name York Ready for 100%. York Eco Homes and Waste Reduction and Diversion (WRAD) became part of the effort. In 2022, under the name York Ready for Climate Action, we became a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

We are a group of passionate volunteers from around the York community, dedicated to increasing awareness about climate change and making urgent reductions in emissions for the benefit of our community and our planet!

At Seacoast Wheelers, we are passionate about bicycling and serving others. We are an all-volunteer group. We began this journey a few years ago, receiving our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in December 2023. We have three OPair E-Trikes and Pilots trained and have been taking staff of the organizations who will use our free service for rides, introducing them to the program. We will be "open for business" by spring 2025.  We also are very fortunate to have Portland Wheelers as our mentors and unofficial partner.
