Rotary Recap – May 15, 2026
 
This week’s meeting was held at Norma’s Restaurant, where Darcy arranged a streamlined breakfast experience with everyone selecting from three breakfast choices. Thank you to Darcy for coordinating!

Club Ideas & Member Engagement
Although Skip was unable to attend this week’s meeting, Darcy introduced a new process for sharing ideas and feedback with club leadership. Members are encouraged to submit ideas for:
  • Guest speakers
  • Service projects
  • Donations
  • Club experience improvements
  • General “idea guy” suggestions
Index cards were passed out to encourage members to jot down ideas, which Skip will help bring to life. Members may also email Darcy, Susan, or Skip with thoughts and suggestions related to the club experience.
 
Car With A Cause (CWAC) Updates
Tim, Brad, Susan, and Darcy recently met to discuss plans and strategies for making this year’s Car With A Cause fundraiser at the beach a success.
 
Memorial Day Weekend Schedule
The fundraiser kicks off next weekend:
  • Saturday: Brad will be stationed in front of the Goldenrod with the car and iPad/POS system from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Darcy will take over from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM to assist with setup and training.
  • Sunday: Susan will be available from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM to help provide instructions and support.
Club Assembly & POS Training
A Club Assembly and information session will be held on May 31st featuring:
  • POS/iPad training
  • Overview of fundraiser procedures
  • Demonstration on the new 85” screen at CAL
The group also reviewed feedback from the CWAC 2026 survey. Members will receive ticket packets that will include:
  • Suggested ticket goals per member
  • Ideas for distributing tickets within the community
  • Tips for sharing unsold tickets with other members
  • General information designed to make participation easier and more encouraging
There was also discussion about the introduction of the “Bird House at Brad’s House” concept connected to ticket packet distribution.
 
Important Car Reminder
Tim shared an important reminder regarding the BMW fundraiser vehicle: DO NOT START THE CAR due to the vehicle’s tilt-in-motion system.
 
Looking Ahead
Next week, Susan and her son will be our guest speakers to discuss Donate Life. Members should also expect to receive their fundraiser ticket packets as we officially begin driving our beach fundraiser efforts forward!
