Opening

Darcy opened the meeting at 7:30 a.m., with Holly leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the 6-Way Test. Thanks were extended to Sean for providing a full breakfast.
 
Kindness Dollars & Service Projects
  • August funds will support Vouchers for Veterans, with delivery planned for September at the Kittery Farmers Market. Members are invited to join.
  • September’s Kindness Drive will support Maine Needs, collecting household goods and essentials. Drop-offs: Center for Active Living, Susan’s home, and Darcy’s office. A list of needed items will be shared.
Community & Upcoming Events
  • Beach Bonfire: August 30, sign-ups available.
  • Field Trip to Mount Agamenticus: September 19, bring your own breakfast/coffee. Limited accessibility (stairs).
  • Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Tour: October 10, departing from USS Albacore. Requires advance signup with Real ID/passport details for clearance.
  • Harvestfest: Seeking volunteers and fresh ideas for engagement (no raffle this year).
  • Car with a Cause Raffle: ~750 tickets sold; members encouraged to keep promoting.
  • Window Dressers: Volunteer opportunities to help measure homes in York this fall; build scheduled in Wells mid-December.
Financial Approvals & Donations
  • 2025–26 Budget: Motion by Jud, second by Duncan; unanimously approved.
  • World Central Kitchen: Motion by Holly, second by Dick S.; unanimously approved for $1,000 donation from the Foundation Budget to match Jud Knox’s $1,000 personal gift, with additional member contributions invited over the next two weeks.
  • Pachacamac, Peru Culinary School Project (Nellie Young): Motion by Tim, second by Larry; unanimously approved for $500 donation.
  • Seacoast Wheelers: $500 approved by the Board (no member vote required).
  • Charlie Black Foundation: $500 approved by the Board for their upcoming road race (no member vote required).
Membership & Programming
  • Members participated in breakout sessions discussing the meaning of Rotary membership, identifying potential new members, and brainstorming engaging speakers/programming. The exercise sparked energy, creativity, and fun conversation.
  • The committee is working on categorizing membership, strengthening engagement, and pairing programs with recruitment efforts.
  • September’s Club Assembly focus will shift to Public Relations.
Closing
Meeting adjourned following committee discussions. Next week there will be no in-person meeting; instead, members will receive a special video presentation via Darcy’s weekly email.
